I LOVE this, and I have been loving Pagebound so far!! So glad I found it and you two, it makes me feel very hopeful and optimistic that there are more ethical, creative, and overall cooler apps out there that we can use for sharing our passion for reading :)
My favorite thing is the chronological feed and no algorithms! I'm so tired of every platform feeding me what it thinks I will like. I am a person with many, many interests, and all of these apps just narrow down recommendations to whatever I last "liked." I miss the diversity (e.g. when IG first launched and I actually saw my friends' posts).
I also heavily relate to Rule 1 - I simply didn't add any of the reads I didn't want to be judged by on Goodreads, but it meant the tradeoff of not having a complete library captured there and nowhere to discuss my thoughts with anyone.
Yes! I know what I like better than an algo! And even if an algo is based on what I spend my time on, that could be my worst human impulses keeping me glued to a video about gossip/drama and not how I’d ideally spend my time
I've only been on Pagebound about two weeks now, but I've appreciated that I've seen more unique book recommendations on the app than any other forum in recent memory. I also like that it's designed to be engaging - I don't necessarily like posting in forums all the time, but I do like seeing that people are and that I'm not just seeing the 'highest engaged' posts all the time. It feels like someone will actually see what I say!
As I think I might have said before,after twenty years I was banned from reviews on Amazon because I was honest answering a question THEY asked my to answer.POOF: 2500 reviews removed
So, my question is, in easy to understand terms: HOW do I add my extensive lists over to Pagebound. Also, if the book isn't in your data base do I need to throw you the ISBN #? Reason for the ask is I don't know what you're asking for when the response comes up with request for title using Goodreads? I am telling authors about Pagebound when I am ARC reading too
I’ve been a long-time Goodreads user, and it was super easy to export that data (csv file) and import into Pagebound. I believe also Storygraph offers a similar ability. What format are your ‘extensive lists’ that you’d like to import? (If they’re already shelves on Goodreads you are very good to go!)
To add a book on Pagebound, you can paste the book’s Goodreads url into the pop-up on PB. If something doesn’t already have a page on Goodreads, for now I believe you’re out of luck
