How to find your reader community
and eat well...
On Pagebound, there are so many ways to showcase who you are as a reader. You pick 5 “My Taste” books, you pin badges earned from Readalongs & Quests, you curate Lists and leave reviews and your entire Library speaks to your reading life. These features also connect you with others. Like the dishes at a community potluck, each plays a different role.
The Book Page — the appetizer tray
The most organic, low-effort way to find your community is just to keep reading what you’re reading! When you visit a book’s Forum to see what everyone is discussing, you’ll naturally see posts and comments that resonate with you. You may start to notice usernames you vibe with 👀
Every book creates its own microcosm of community—the nonfiction forums look really different from the literary fiction ones, which differ from the romance book forums. This year, we added a Feed to the book page so you can more easily discover folks who are actively reading the same book as you. The Book Feed is populated with activity cards and progress updates—leave a comment to start the conversation! You could steal Callum Turner’s line when he met Dua Lipa (their meet-cute story).
Overlap % — the crowd pleaser
The easiest metric of reading similarity to view at a glance. In this yellow tag, you’ll see the percentage of books you share in common across your entire library. Whether you’re seeking high similarity or not, this can be a useful benchmark for new readers and veteran readers alike.
My Taste Books — the dish served on special china
When you only have 5 books to showcase your taste, the choices hold more weight. Whether you choose a range of books to illustrate the breadth of what you read or you double down on your core favorites, a book’s inclusion here means a lot. We think that’s a great starting point for building a connection 🤝
To see who has a My Taste book that overlaps with yours, visit Discover People and click the “Similar Users” banner. You’ll see a list of active users you don’t yet follow. If you switch out one or more books, you’ll see a different list of users!
We recently revamped Discover People to feature a different book each day, and you can swipe through active users who have that book in their My Taste:
Lists & Quests — the dessert sampler
Pagebound is built for discovery and connection. At the bottom of every book page, you’ll find Lists & Quests that feature that book. Lists are a great place to meet people—from the creator to the commenters.
In Quests, you can see everyone across Pagebound who has joined, along with quick access to visit their profile and/or follow them:
Don’t be afraid to follow people! Everyone has an anonymous profile, and there’s nothing strange about following someone you don’t know. Commenting and following are your utensils for eating well 🙂↕️
